My name is Amber M. Brown, I have the pretty standard resume as many art school graduates; I have taught in the public school system, worked in retail and did time in food service and recently I have added graduate student and entreprenuer to my list of infamiss pursuits!
"InfaMiss" is a play on words and a nod to my alterego as a creative baddie. Professionally, as an educator I was "Miss Brown" to my students and colleagues. I have always loved the word "Infamous", it bodes well with my personality😉, (what can I say...I am a baddie).
My creative journey began in childhood when I created my first graphic novel, eventually branching into new territories including; theater, marching band, yearbook and chorus to name a few! After earning my B.A. in Studio Art in 2006, I was unsure of my next steps, so I ventured into the culinary arts where I apprenticed as a chef. After burning out from long hours, I pivoted to education—substitute teaching led to a full-time role as an art educator. Along the way, I nurtured my creative skills into journalism with my first blog “ABrownAroundTown” and became self-taught media artist and designer. Today, I'm a Public Relations grad student, blogger with the creative professional in mind with my zine "The Constructive Gaze", and proud "Baddie" behind the "Infamiss" brand.
Please take a journey into my world of creative infamy! If I am not playing my banjo, bird watching, or trying to finish a sudoku in pen😭 (yes, I said PEN), then, I am Amber, the multimedia artist and educator with a strong communications background that loves my community in the 757 (Hampton Roads) and building bridges with like minded creatives. I want to bring the arts to the public and I am available to instruct "create & sips", freelance as a writer, meet your creative needs as a commissioned professional and conduct workshops!
